Many people have asked us Who are BLESMA, what do they do and why have we chosen to support them through Beeline Britain. BLESMA is a national charity that directly supports all of our Service men and women who have lost limbs and the use of limbs or the loss of eyesight in the honourable service of our country.

BLESMA exists to empower and promote the welfare and wellbeing of all serving and ex-service men and women who may have rehabilitative needs post limb loss. We are also committed to supporting surviving partners and dependents of deceased military personnel.

The services that BLESMA offer were invaluable to team member Nick Beighton after he was struck in 2009 by an IED explosion and lost both of his legs above the knee. Nick went from 6ft 7 to 4ft 11 but still sees himself as fit, strong and determine to achieve all of his goals.

Nick added: BLESMA are close to my heart, they offered me a lot of support while I have been injured and they do some really valuable work with the other military amputees.”

BLESMA supports its veterans in a number of ways – there is a brotherhood which enables injured servicemen and women to come together and support each other. They offer financial support and lastly the offer exciting opportunities to veterans through activities such as cycling, golf, rowing, climbing and many more. BLESMA believe that providing an interesting and stimulating range of activities through life contributes significantly to wellbeing, confidence and self-belief.
